Rail Against Randomness

reading one of the blogs i have bookmarked, lucy creates, there was a challenge game in the feb 6 post...pick up the nearest book, turn to page 123, find the first five sentences, then post the next three. she said we could make our own rules and since the nearest book was a textbook, i grabbed instead an old favorite...thoreau's walden. in this edition, the passage was:

"We have one other pond just like this, White Pond, in Nine Acre Corner, about two and a half miles westerly; but, though i am acquainted with most of the ponds within a dozen miles of this centre, I do not know a third of this pure and well-like character. Successive nations perchance have drank at, admired, and fathomed it, and not passed away, and still its water is green and pellucid as ever. Not an intermitting spring!"

hmmm...not part of a paragraph i had underlined ;) the meaning-makers among you could probably extract a philosophical or inspirational take-away, but this is primarily a photo blog. so the connection brought to mind here was with a peaceful picture that we have blown up on a large canvas, taken on a summer trip to a good friend's cabin outside santa fe. maybe now it shall be referred to as our "pellucid" photo.

is anything really "random"? ;)

(i love the word, pellucid. i had to look it up, but now i love it :-) it definitely sounds like a 'lucy' word to me. you can expect to see it again, i imagine...
